John Wang Conference Travel Grant and John Wang Summer Grant for EALC Grad Students

The Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures is pleased to announce two new grants in honor of the late Professor John C. Wang. These grants are made possible by generous financial contributions from Professor Wang and his family. EALC graduate students may find these forms through EALC's Shared Box folder. John Wang Conference Travel Grants

Each year two graduate students will be awarded a conference travel grant up to $1,500 against receipts for airfare, hotel, ground transportation, and conference registration.

Eligibility Guidelines

  • Stanford EALC graduate student in good academic standing and not currently on leaveof absence.
  • Student must be presenting a paper at a reputable academic conference.

 

John Wang Summer Grants

Each year two graduate students who have been admitted into a reputable summerlanguage or disciplinary training program will each be eligible for financial assistance up to$4,000.

The following is a list of recommended programs (any other program needs to beapproved on a case-by-case basis):

  • UC Yokohama
  • IUP Qinghua University
  • ICLP, National Taiwan University
  • Yuehan Academy, National Tsing Hua University (Taiwan)
  • Middlebury College Summer Language School
  • School of Theory and Criticism, Cornell University
  • Institute of World Literature (administered by Harvard University, held at various locations)
  • Kambun Workshop, USC
  • Global Asias Summer Institute, Penn State University
  • Summer University, Chiao Tung University, Taiwan

Eligibility Guidelines

  • Stanford EALC graduate student in good academic standing.
  • Student must be admitted to a reputable summer language or disciplinary training program.
