In a first for the East Asia Humanities Workshop, we have invited a panel of established scholars to reflect on the question "What matters to me?" Our guests will speak of their personal experiences navigating careers in East Asia-related academia, alternative paths not taken, the differences they strive to make in their communities, and the joys and challenges of teaching and researching in East Asian Studies today.

Noriko Aso is Associate Professor of History and Director of the East Asian Studies Program at the University of California - Santa Cruz.

Myojung Chung is Assistant Professor of Journalism and Media Advocacy at Northeastern University.

Andrew F. Jones is the Louis B. Agassiz Professor of Chinese and Department Chair of East Asian Languages and Cultures at the University of California - Berkeley.
