Heidi Chou Funding for Summer Language Learning
Thanks to the generosity of Stanford alumna Heidi Chou, the Heidi Chou Fund (HCF) for East Asian Languages and Cultures has been established to support Chinese language studies in the Department. The Department has decided to use it to provide summer Chinese language scholarships (up to $4,000 per student) to undergraduates considering to declare major or minor in East Asian Studies and/or East Asian Studies, China Subplan. Preference will be given to students who have already declared the major or minor.
APPLICATION MATERIALS: If you want to utilize this fund to enhance your language skills, please apply via email and include your plan of study, a statement of interest, budget, two references, and an unofficial transcript. Your references will be contacted, but you do not need to ask them for a letter of recommendation. Be sure to note the program(s) of interest, and your application status (i.e. plan to apply, applied, accepted, etc.). The application should be 2-3 pages in length.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Please send your HCF application to the Student Services Officer no later than February 28, 2022. We will begin accepting applications for funding as soon as January 11, 2022. Scholarships will be disbursed to awardees after the February 28 deadline. Available funding will be granted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please contact Cyril Millendez to inquire about available funds. This page will be updated when funding for the current academic year is no longer available.
NOTE FOR ACADEMIC YEAR 2021-22: Per the current Stanford University Travel Policy, all individuals regardless of vaccination status are required to comply with campus access restrictions and testing requirements of Stanford University and the host institution of the desired abroad or overseas language program.
