Melissa Hosek, first-year Ph.D. in Chinese literature

Melissa studies modern Chinese literature with Prof. Ban Wang.

Yanping Lu, third-year Ph.D. in Chinese literature

Yanping is a third-year graduate student studying Chinese poetry with Prof. Ronald Egan.  She is teaching assistant for Chinese language this year.

Adrian Thieret, fifth-year Ph.D. in Chinese literature

Adrian, who studies modern Chinese literature, is doing research for his dissertation.

Xiao Rao, second-year Ph.D. in Chinese literature

Xiao Rao received his M.A. from the University of Colorado at Boulder.  He works on pre-modern Chinese literature, religion, and intellectual history.  He published a translation of Jin Shengtan's preface to the twenty-eigth chapter of Shuihu zhuan in the journal Renditions, no. 80.

Adrian Thieret, fourth-year Ph.D. in modern Chinese literature

He was a 2012 Blakemore Freeman Fellow for Korea, and has also studied in Japan. His background in the languages and cultures of all three countries brings a comparative perspective to his research on contemporary East Asia. Adrian's dissertation research focuses on Chinese science fiction literature, and his primary thematic interests include transnational culture, translation, socialist ecology, environmental crisis, cosmopolitanism, utopianism, and literary historiography.
 

Xiao Rao, first-year Ph.D. in Chinese literature

Ming Chew Teo, second-year Ph.D. in Chinese linguistics

Ming Chew studies historical Chinese linguistics and comparative linguistics with Prof. Chaofen Sun.  This year he is a teaching assistant in Chinese language.

Yanshuo Zhang, third-year Ph.D. in modern Chinese literature

Yanshuo has published short stories, and studies modern Chinese literature with Prof. Ban Wang.
