Prospective Undergrads

Students interested in majoring or minoring in East Asian Studies should contact Cyril Millendez, Student Services Officer.

Please email Cyril Millendez or asianlanguages@stanford.edu to schedule an informational or declaration meeting. During the meeting, students will go over departmental requirements to make sure that they understand program requirements before declaring the major or minor on Axess/Peoplesoft.

Please note that the major/minor requirements may change from year-to-year, so students should check the Stanford Bulletin Archive to make sure that they complete the major/minor requirements from the year that they declared. Once the major/minor declaration is approved, students will be added onto our department mailing list to be notified of upcoming department events/opportunities relevant to undergraduates in our department.

Rebecca Spencer, B.A. in East Asian Studies, Class of 2022

"More than anything, being an East Asian Studies major has allowed me to connect with the most amazing people. Everyone in the field is so passionate, respectful, and inspiring, and I have been introduced to so many different opportunities and experiences that I never would have found otherwise. From expert teachers, political leaders, and even artistic gurus, the people I have met through my study of Asia have changed my life for the better."
